DSFM Partnership

MITT offers French-speaking high school students the opportunity to gain practical skills while maintaining their linguistic identity through its partnership with Division scolaire franco-manitobaine (DSFM).  The tuition-free courses delivered to students in DSFM schools give them the opportunity to explore several trades while developing skills that will be valuable both in trades careers and in day-to-day life.

Program Structure

Students from DSFM schools attend MITT once a week for one of three courses:

  • Grade 9 Intro to Metalworking Technology
  • Grade 10 Intro to Woodwork Technology
  • Grade 10 Intro to Electricity/Electronics Technology

    The courses teach students theory at their home school, while giving them hands-on experience in modern trades labs at MITT.

    • École régionale Saint-Jean-Baptiste
    • École Saint-Joachim

    How to Participate

    Some participating schools have all students in the appropriate grades participate in the technical training courses at MITT. Other schools make participation optional. Speak to the guidance counselor at your DSFM school for more information on participating in these trades programs.
