MITT Transition

Updated: February 3, 2026

On January 28, MITT announced that we would wind down operations and transfer selected programs to Red River College Polytech (RRC Polytech).

We remain deeply committed to our students, our community, and to maintaining academic continuity. We will work collaboratively with the Province of Manitoba and Red River College to ensure students are supported and have a clear, well-defined plan to complete their programs.

We will continue to update this page as we have new information to share.

Please send any questions or concerns to transition@mitt.ca.

General

Students are our top priority. All students will be able to complete their programs at MITT campuses. They will continue their classes as they are now. Schedules and classes remain the same.

We have set up an email address for staff, students, and parents to direct their questions to: Transition@mitt.ca. Emails will be handled confidentially. Not all questions will have immediate answers, but all will be acknowledged.

Current students will be able to complete their programs at MITT campuses.

For College Students

Yes, all students will be able to complete their programs.

You will continue your program as it is now, at MITT’s campuses.

We will work with international students to ensure they can complete their program in compliance with study permit requirements.

That will depend on the length of the program. Some will complete with an MITT credential, while others may graduate from RRC Polytech.

A review of all programming will take place. We will have more information to share once that is complete.

Progression within the trades won’t change. Once a student completes their pre-apprenticeship or level in a trades program, they will progress to other institutions that offer the next levels of training.

Yes. MITT Student Services will continue to support students during this transition.

Nothing is changing for current students related to their work placements.

 For Future Students

Following initial work on program alignment, MITT and RRC Polytech will soon work with prospective students who have applied for admission to MITT to support their educational plans.
