At the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT), we recognize that education is a lifelong journey. Our Mature Student Admission pathway offers individuals who may not meet traditional admission criteria the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education.
To be considered for mature student admission, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Age: Be at least 19 years old by the start date of the chosen program.
- Citizenship: Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Education gap: Have been out of high school for a minimum of one year at the time of application.
- Academic background: Lack the formal academic qualifications for regular admission (i.e., have not graduated from high school or obtained a recognized high school credential, or equivalent).
- Program application: Apply to a post-secondary certificate or diploma program.
- Academic standing: Maintain good academic standing with all previous post-secondary institutions attended.
Applicants who have completed 24 credit hours or more at an accredited university or college must have achieved at least a “C” (60%) average in all attempted academic work to be eligible for mature student admission.
All mature student applicants must meet specific course and grade prerequisites for their chosen program, as well as any additional admission requirements, such as demonstrating English Language Proficiency.
