MITT Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards

MITT STUDENT BURSARIES

Bursaries provide support to current MITT students for living expenses while studying. Bursaries are available each year for domestic students with a demonstrated financial need and minimum academic standing. Check this page in October, March and June of each year for bursary applications. 

Bursaries are funded by MITT, The Winnipeg Foundation, and private donors as seen with the Joe Sawtus Canadian Motorcycle Motosport Bursary and the Dave Holden Bursary in Culinary Arts.

NEW! MITT Covid-19 Essential Worker Entrance Bursary Ten $1000 bursaries for students who were/are employed in essential service areas since March 2020. Students with parents/guardians employed in essential areas are also eligible. Congratulations to our Essential Worker Bursary recipients!

Indspire Indigenous Education Awards MITT is a proud Indspire donor and supports four $2500 awards each year for Indigenous post-secondary students.

Advancing Futures Bursaries Up to $10,000 for former youth-in-care who are studying at MITT (See also the Futures Forward Tuition Waiver Program proudly supported by MITT).

Rise Above Scholarship Single parents with sole custody of their children who are studying at MITT may be eligible for bursaries up to $3000.

Variety Manitoba Post-Secondary Education Awards $2000-$4000 in support for MITT students with a permanent disability. 

CICAN Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Bursaries of up to $5000 each for students with a financial need enrolled in a 1- or 2-year MITT program. Preference given to students from rural, remote or northern areas. If you qualify, contact studentawards@mitt.ca before September 17, 2021 to be nominated.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Throughout Manitoba and Canada, there are many organizations who sponsor student scholarships. Future and current MITT students are encouraged to research and apply for every scholarship and award where they meet some or all of the eligibility criteria.

Search for scholarships specific to an industry or program of study, or for other interests and activities such as: sports affiliations, volunteerism and community involvement; religious/cultural associations; unions or corporate scholarships through parents or family member's employers.

Southern Chiefs Organization and Vickar Auto Group Launch New Scholarship for Fall 2021! This award is open to members of the 34 SCO First Nations communities studying in any MITT program. Click here for more details and watch this page in early October 2021 for application info.

MITT Women in Technology Entrance Scholarships for Fall 2021! Women training for careers in IT and technology are automatically considered for $500 entrance scholarships by applying to MITT before June 30, 2021.MITT Women in Trades Entrance Scholarships continue for Fall 2021! Women pursuing career training in the trades are automatically considered for $500 entrance scholarships by applying to MITT before June 30, 2021.

Native Women's Association of Canada awards for Indigenous women, mothers, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse peoples. Three different awards are being offered with application deadlines in late July. Click the link and see Scholarships and Bursaries in the menu. 

2021 Printing United Alliance Scholarship As a Printing United Alliance Educational Institution member school, incoming fall 2021 MITT Graphic and Print Technician students are eligible to apply for several $2000 scholarships.

Premio Campo Fogolar Award 2021 $1000 for MITT students with Friuli Venezia Giulia/Veneto Heritage. Apply before 31 October 2021. 

Manitoba Beef Producers Scholarship Six $500 scholarships for MBP members or their children. Deadline to apply has been extended to 5 November 2021.

National Union of Public and General Employees Tell Us Why Unions Matter. Ongoing, no deadline to apply. 

TransCanada Community Scholarships for community leadership, Indigenous students, and trades programs. 

ATCO Indigenous Education Awards Merit-based bursaries and scholarships for Indigenous students entering a trades or technical program.

Horatio Alger National Vocational & Technical Scholarship Up to $3000 to pursue vocational and technical education.

Support Our Troops Scholarships for current/former members of the military and their families.

Fall 2021 Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust MITT Graphic and Print Technician students will be considered for a $1500 entrance scholarship based on grades from their high school entrance requirements. No separate application is required, but students must apply online to Graphic and Print Technician no later than June 30, 2021.

Pembina Trails MITT Work Skills Entrance Scholarship $1000 for students attending MITT following graduation from one of the following high schools: Oak Park, Vincent Massey, Fort Richmond Collegiate, Shaftesbury, PT Alternative HS, PTEC. Contact your high school guidance counsellor to be considered.

Mayor's Scholarship for Community Leadership Five $1000 scholarships for students involved in activities that improve Winnipeg communities.

MITT International Student Mid-Term Scholarships

International students in an MITT post-secondary trades or technical program are automatically considered for scholarships based on their grades and work skills at the mid-point of the academic year.

 

GRADUATE AWARDS

MITT Graduate Awards recognize the outstanding student achievements and are awarded at convocation each year. Students are nominated for MITT Program Excellence and industry-sponsored awards based on grades, practicum performance, leadership, as well as citizenship and volunteerism.
