Organizations of various size and structure require teams of cyber and network security experts to protect all manner of business or personal data from daily barrages of cyber attacks. Students in MITT’s CDCA diploma program train for these vital roles, gaining specialized and in-demand knowledge and skills through hands-on learning with industry standard hardware and software so they can:
Perform IT network analysis. Identify anomalous activity and potential threats to resources. Design and implement appropriate courses of actions using industry standard computer network defence tools. Perform virtualization and secure integration of cloud services into existing IT infrastructures.
CDCA students are concurrently enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy and completed credits can be used as prerequisites for further Cisco training. The program is a Check Point Secure Academy, a member of the VMWare IT Academic Program, and a CompTIA Associate.
An eight-week practicum opportunity, combined with MITT’s Bridging to Work workshops, provide students real-world experience, and a strong foundation in employability and essential skills, to help them transition seamlessly from classroom to career.
Who it is for
Individuals who love to solve complex problems, have a desire to understand business processes and procedures, who are comfortable explaining complex topics to experts and non-experts alike, and who are eager to acquire progressive knowledge through self-guided lifelong learning.

Certification
Many employers prefer to hire applicants who are certified. Even if it’s not required, certification demonstrates a level of skill, knowledge, and commitment that potential employers value. (Click here for a list of regulated professions in Manitoba.)
Students in the CDCA program are prepared to write the certification exams for Microsoft MCSE and MCSA, Cisco CCENT, CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, and Linux LPI. The cost of certification exams is not included in tuition, but students are eligible for discount vouchers.
Certification is available through various IT training and credentialing associations.
At MITT, individual courses allow students to challenge industry certification exams, including:
Cisco CCNA - Cisco CCNA Security
Cisco CCNA Voice - Office 365
VMWare Certification - Cloud Server Certification
MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Associate)
CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
Eligible students participate in a seven-week work practicum placement in the computer industry where they get to apply the skills learned in the classroom, complete on-the-job procedures, and establish a valuable network.
Work practicum is a mandatory component of this program. Students must meet all program eligibility criteria to qualify for practicum. MITT does not guarantee practicum placements when students do not meet eligibility criteria (including having a valid co-op work permit) or when sufficient placements are not available. In such situations, MITT will explore alternative options for program completion with a student.
Continuous Program Improvement
MITT continuously reviews and improves programs to maintain relevance in the workplace and effective learning experiences for all students. Although the institution strives to have the website reflect the most current version of all programs, MITT reserves the right to change the program curriculum as necessary to meet industry and accreditation requirements. As a result, course information and learning outcomes may be adjusted prior to the scheduled course start date.
