Online Learning
MITT offers programs delivered in person, fully online, or blended (a hybrid or mix of on campus and online). Blended and online program courses are hosted on MyLearning, a learning management system developed by Desire2Learn (D2L) and also known as Brightspace. This software platform for virtual learning and training provides 24-7 web-based access in order to be flexible for students.
Online learning still features instructors, lectures, assignments and group discussions, however communication with your instructors and classmates takes place electronically. Instructors may also use collaboration and gamification tools such as Kahoot, Quizlet, Google Classroom, Moodle and LinkedIn Learning to engage and challenge students.
To be successful in an online study environment, there is a particular need for students to be independent, self-motivated, resourceful and organized. It is important to consider your computer skills, quality of internet connection and other technical requirements before you enroll.
Students can receive support with any account or technical issues, as well as find tips to get the hang of MyLearning or try new online study strategies.
MITT instructors have the opportunity to improve their teaching and technical skills online through support by the Centre for Learning and Innovation.
