The new Client Service Specialist Certificate (CSS) is a distinctive program MITT has developed in partnership with the Manitoba Tourism Education College (MTEC). Although students will receive the MITT credential upon successful completion, the ten months of occupational specific, career development and technical courses are delivered by MTEC in a classroom located in MTEC’s facility (Unit 3 -75 Scurfield Blvd). At the end of the program, MTEC will connect students with their numerous employer contacts for a one-month, unpaid work practicum.
Upon graduation, students will receive a MITT certificate and will be equipped with the transferable skills required for front-line employment in multiple industry-sectors. Students will also have the opportunity to receive the following industry recognized certificates in various courses and workshops throughout the CSSC program:
- Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate
- Emergency First Aid Level C and Level 1 AED
- Winnipeg Ambassador
- Handling Difficult Situations
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials and Information Systems)
This program held at MTEC’s facility also includes:
- 4 hours of class time per day (Monday-Friday) for non-work practicum courses
- Industry experienced instructors
- Field trips and guest speakers
- Free parking
- Complimentary coffee, tea, water (daily basis)
All documentation will be provided by MITT to eligible applicants/students.
MITT will confirm the student cohort (morning/afternoon) after the letter of acceptance has been issued and tuition deposit received. Applicants who choose the evening cohort in their online application will automatically be placed in that timeslot.

Qualifying students apply skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills, during a mandatory full-time, four-week work practicum with a local business/employer that has been arranged by the Manitoba Tourism Education College. As per IRCC, students must have a co-op work permit to be eligible for the work practicum. It is the students responsibility to apply for the co-op work permit at least four months before the practicum begins.
Work practicum is a mandatory component of this program. Students must meet all program eligibility criteria to qualify for practicum. MITT does not guarantee practicum placements when students do not meet eligibility criteria (including having a valid co-op work permit) or when sufficient placements are not available. In such situations, MITT will explore alternative options for program completion with a student.
Policy Information
Applicants and students of the Client Service Specialist program will be subject to MITT's admission, financial and withdrawal policies throughout the application process and duration of the program. Students will also be responsible to adhere to MTEC's academic policies such as attendance, academic integrity, safety, and appropriate conduct as outlined by MTEC on the first day of the program.
Important Information
Please click here for important information regarding admission processes and alternative course delivery due to COVID-19.
COVID-19 Response
Due to the challenges raised by COVID-19, MITT reserves the right to alter course delivery methods and/or program durations. Course deliveries may require increased percentages of online/distance learning components, alternatives to work practicums, and extended program durations to accommodate physical distancing and work practicum placement restrictions. MITT will be providing an exceptional level of enhanced student and program supports to ensure this modified program experience continues to meet all required learning outcomes for your program.
Continuous Program Improvement
MITT continuously reviews and improves programs to maintain relevance in the workplace and effective learning experiences for all students. Although the institution strives to have the website reflect the most current version of all programs, MITT reserves the right to change the program curriculum as necessary to meet industry and accreditation requirements. As a result, course information and learning outcomes may be adjusted prior to the scheduled course start date.
