Pembina Trails Early College (PTEC)

Pembina Trails Early College programs at MITT are designed to equip students with the skills and certifications needed for successful careers in the information communication technology industry while completing their high school diploma.

This unique program begins in Grade 9 at Pembina Trails Collegiate, where students lay the foundation for their technical education. In Grade 11, students transition to MITT, attending part-time afternoon classes to gain hands-on experience and specialized knowledge. By Grade 12, students immerse themselves further, attending morning sessions at MITT to deepen their expertise and prepare for post-secondary pathways or direct entry into the workforce.

With industry-recognized certifications and clear progression options, PTEC programs offer an exceptional blend of academic learning and practical training to ensure students are ready for the demands of the tech industry.

  • Network Systems Administrator (NSA) Program
  • Software Developer (SD) Program

Each program offers high school students the opportunity to graduate with industry-recognized certifications and diplomas.

Who is it for?

PTEC is for Pembina Trails School Division students or those residing in the Pembina Trails catchment area who are passionate about software development, networking, and coding.

Cost

There is no tuition to attend PTEC. Students may be required to purchase additional supplies for their technical training.

  • NSA-500: Introduction to Computer Systems (96 hours)
  • NSA-510: Networking and IT Essentials (96 hours)
  • NSA-520: Introduction to Programming Using Python (42 hours)
  • NSA-530: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (42 hours)
  • NSA-540: Microsoft Azure Administration (84 hours)

Term II: Grade 12 (8:45 AM – 11:30 AM)

  • NSA-600: CCNA I: Introduction to Networks (84 hours)
  • NSA-610: CCNA II: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials (96 hours)
  • NSA-620: CCNA III: Enterprise Networking, Security & Automation (96 hours)
  • NSA-550: CompTIA Security+ (84 hours)

  • Full-Stack Developer (FSD) Certificate (PTEC Level)
  • *Earn a Software Developer Diploma at MITT with just one additional term and practicum following high school

PTEC is proud to have Tech Manitoba as a pillar partner. We believe that mentorship is key to exploring the tech industry. Tech Manitoba provides PTEC students with industry mentors who offer valuable career insights. In Grade 9, industry speakers deliver diverse presentations. In Grade 10, students work in teams on Freedom Friday projects with mentor guidance. In Grades 11 and 12, experienced industry mentors help students craft polished tech resumes, lead interview workshops, and conduct mock interviews.
