In March, Film Training Manitoba sponsored a dynamic career panel, “REEL Careers: Trades of Film,” at MITT’s Henlow Campus for a packed room of attendees.
This engaging event brought together nearly 100 students from various programs: Administrative Assistant, Hairstyling, Electrical Applications, and Carpentry.
The panel discussion featured professionals who shared their experiences and insights about the different career paths available in Manitoba’s thriving film industry.
Following the panel, students had the opportunity to network with the experts, fostering connections that could lead to future career opportunities.
An MITT Carpentry alumnus who attended the event shared, “It was an insightful session for exploring opportunities in the film industry. Learning about the Directors Guild of Canada was particularly eye-opening, highlighting alternative entry points for individuals like myself looking for opportunities.”

The event highlighted the diverse ways students’ existing skill sets can be applied in the film sector, providing a clearer understanding of the industry’s vast potential and the many roles within it.
Thanks to Film Training Manitoba’s support, students who attended the event gained valuable insider knowledge and were inspired to explore careers they might not have previously considered.
