The construction industry in Manitoba is full of opportunity. With demand for new housing on the rise and many experienced workers nearing retirement, the need for skilled tradespeople continues to grow.
At MITT, we’re committed to helping more learners enter these rewarding careers by reducing financial barriers and ensuring students have the support they need to join Manitoba’s construction workforce.
That’s why we’re proud to recognize the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association (MHBA) for their generous $2,000 annual contribution to MITT—support that directly helps students take their first steps toward careers in carpentry and electrical applications.
Thanks to MHBA’s generous contribution, this past fall we awarded two new $1,000 bursaries to students in MITT’s Carpentry and Electrical Applications programs.
“A huge thank you to the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association for establishing a named award with us,” said Neil Cooke, President and CEO of MITT. “As Manitoba faces growing demand for housing and a shortage of skilled tradespeople, their support helps reduce barriers for students and prepares more graduates to enter the residential construction sector. We’re grateful to MHBA for recognizing that MITT’s programs are a key part of the solution.”
As the oldest provincial home builders’ association in Canada, MHBA serves as the voice of Manitoba’s residential construction industry. Through advocacy, professional education, and a commitment to affordability and housing choice, MHBA strengthens the environment in which the industry and its future workforce can thrive.
“Promoting residential construction as a career of choice is important to helping our industry attract new entrants into our workforce so we can meet the growing demand for housing in Manitoba,” states MHBA President & CEO, Lanny McInnes. “The MHBA is pleased to support MITT in training new entrants to our industry.”
