Over the past three months, MITT has connected over 1,000 students with 75 Manitoba employers through four career fairs: Health Care, Post-Graduate, Pharmacy Technician, and MITT’s General Career Fair.
These events and other initiatives, like employer-student speed networking and conferences, help the college match employer partners with a talented pool of students for meaningful conversations that lead to concrete hiring outcomes.
Carine Bado, CEO and Founder of My Little Tribe, a platform that helps families with kids under 12 build a support system, shared how participating in these events as a local employer helped her connect with qualified graduates.“Our goal [in attending these events] was to build relationships with passionate individuals who could contribute to the development of our platform while also benefiting from hands-on learning opportunities in a startup environment.”
She continued, “We have had the privilege of working with talented students who are helping to develop our front-end and back-end systems under the supervision of our internal lead developer. This partnership has accelerated our product development while providing students with industry experience and mentorship.”
Following MITT’s career fairs, My Little Tribe hired graduate Hanna Hee Ran Han as their community outreach coordinator.
Bailey Catania, Recruitment Services Advisor at Birchwood, also shared that since attending MITT industry events, she’s altered the way she recruits future Automotive Service Technician graduates.
“Attending career fairs has allowed us to stay connected with our community, students, and their educators, which also helps strengthen our recruitment strategy. We gain real-time verbal feedback about what young professionals are looking for, which helps us tailor our recruitment strategies to better meet their needs,” said Catania.
“Even if students aren’t ready for full-time opportunities, these events allow us to establish relationships now which can lead to future hires as they complete their studies.”
