Information for Students and Guests

Convocation is a unique ceremony that balances formality with celebration. MITT provides the following guidelines to help ensure you and your guest have a memorable experience.

Download the Guidelines for Students and Guests, a summary of key information for Convocation.

Our primary method of communication with students is through email. Students are encouraged to review and update their personal email and mailing addresses in their Student Portal Account.

Students will receive by email:

  • Save the date information (March)
  • Gown rental and ceremony registration instructions (May)
  • Ceremony guidelines for students and guests (June)

If you have questions, please email grad@mitt.ca.

Information about gown rentals will be shared in early September. In order to participate in the convocation ceremony, you are required to rent and wear academic attire (gown, vee-stole/hood, cap, and tassel).

limited number of on-site gown rentals will be available at your ceremony. We cannot guarantee a gown will be available as on-site rental demand may exceed supplies.

The on-site gown rental fee is $70.00 (taxes included).

If you plan on renting a gown on-site, please arrive at the RBC Convention Centre at least 1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time.

At the convocation ceremony, graduation portraits and other photo opportunities, including photos of graduates crossing the stage, will be available from Lifetouch.

Graduation portraits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and sessions take approximately 10 minutes. A $15 fee applies, paid on the day of convocation. Proofs will be mailed to your house.

All graduates crossing the stage have their photo taken. To receive a proof, you must register using the QR code.
