Information for Students and Guests

Convocation is a unique ceremony that balances formality with celebration. MITT provides the following guidelines to help ensure you and your guest have a memorable experience.

Download the Guidelines for Students and Guests, a summary of key information for Convocation.

Our primary method of communication with students is through email. Students are encouraged to review and update their personal email and mailing addresses in their Student Portal Account.

Students will receive by email:

  • Save the date information (approximately 3 months prior to ceremony date)
  • Gown rental and ceremony registration instructions (approximately 6 weeks prior to ceremony date)
  • Ceremony guidelines for students and guests (a few days before ceremony date)

If you have questions, please email grad@mitt.ca.

Your gown rental serves as your convocation registration. All graduates participating in a ceremony are required to rent and wear academic attire (gown, vee-stole/hood, cap, and tassel). You may keep your graduation cap and tassel.

Gown rental costs and rental deadline: TBD

On-site gown rental fee: TBD

To start your gown rental, you need to know:

  • your student number 00000xxxxxx
  • your payment method. Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, or Discover are accepted
  • the number of guests attending with you
  • the gown rental option indicated in the email you received from MITT

By participating in this event, you consent to be photographed and recorded, and you authorize the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology to use the photos, videos, and audio recordings in its activities, at its events, and in its print and electronic promotional materials, including on MITT’s website and social media.
