Tax Credit Receipt

Get the information you need to access your T2202 tax form and understand your eligibility.

What is a T2202?

The T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate is issued each February for the previous tax year. It helps eligible students claim education-related tax credits through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

You may be eligible to claim:

  • The amount of tuition and eligible fees paid
  • The number of months enrolled full-time or part-time

Visit the CRA website for details on eligible tuition fees and amounts which cannot be claimed as tuition fees.

Who Qualifies for a T2202?

You may receive a T2202 if you:

  • Are 16 or older
  • Paid at least $100 in tuition during the tax year
  • Attended a program for at least 3 consecutive weeks and 12 hours per month
  • Are enrolled in a program that builds or upgrades occupational skills
  • Some programs may not be eligible. Contact Canada Revenue Agency for details.

Accessing Your T2202

Your T2202 will be available through your Student Portal by the end of February each year.

Important Notes

  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) must be entered in the Student Portal. MITT cannot update this for you.
  • If your SIN was missing on the original form, update it via the portal and request a new T2202 on the Documents and Forms page. A fee applies.
  • You may not receive a T2202 if you have outstanding tuition.

Frequently Asked Questions

No problem. CRA does not require your T2202 to be submitted with your tax return, and the address does not need to be corrected.

The receipt reflects attendance dates, not payment dates. Tuition is divided by tax year if your program crosses years.

Eligible:

  • Tuition
  • Infrastructure/Technology fees
  • Application fees (if you enrolled)
  • Some exam fees

Not Eligible:

No. In accordance with the Manitoba Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), MITT can only release T2202 tax forms directly to students. We are not authorized to share this information with third parties, including parents or guardians.
