Refunds
Overview
If your program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, or you withdraw from a program, you may be eligible for tuition and fee refund, subject to the timelines and conditions outlined below.
Please note that certain fees are non-refundable, as specified in the Non-Refundable Fees section.
For two-year programs, the refund schedule applies separately to each year.
Educational institutions are required to:
- Forward any refund for student loan recipients directly to the lending institution to reduce student loan debt.
- Forward refunds directly to third parties who paid tuition on behalf of a student, as required by Education Training Services and other sponsoring agencies.
Refund Schedule
Effective August 1, 2025.
For students whose fees are being assessed up to, and including, Spring 2025, please refer to Tuition Refund Schedule – Prior to August 1, 2025 [PDF].
The following timeline applies to Certificate and Diploma programs that are a minimum of two terms in length.
Tuition Refund is based on tuition that has been paid in full. See Academic Schedule for term start dates and refund deadlines.

NOTE: For programs that are two (2) years in length, this refund schedule applies separately to each year.
The following timeline applies to Certificate programs that are less than two terms in length.

Non-Refundable Fees
The following fees are non-refundable upon withdrawal from your program or any courses within it:
- Application Fee
- Admission Deposit
- TPAT (Technology Programs Aptitude Test) Fee (if applicable)
- Late Payment Fees (if applicable)
- Payment Plan Fee (if applicable)
- Other Compulsory Fees
Domestic Students
As of the first day of the program, the following fees are non-refundable:
- Infrastructure and Technology Fee
- Student Award Fund Fee
- Mandatory program fees (Consumable Fees, Kit Fees, Purchased Instruction Fees, if applicable)
International Students:
As of the first day of the program, the following fees are non-refundable:
- Infrastructure and Technology Fee
- Student Award Fund Fee
- Health Insurance Fee
- Mandatory program fees (Consumable Fees, Kit Fees, Purchased Instruction Fees, if applicable)
Study Permit Refusal
If an international student receives a study permit refusal from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that prevents them from beginning their program at MITT, the following conditions apply:
- Withdrawal Request: Must be received prior to the program start date; otherwise, the regular refund policy applies.
- Required Documentation: An official study permit refusal letter from IRCC or the Canadian Embassy and a completed withdrawal form must be submitted no later than six weeks after the date of refusal.
- Student’s application must be active: Admission must not have been cancelled, withdrawn, revoked, or rescinded for any reason, prior to the study permit/visa rejection notice being received by MITT.

How to Request a Refund
Once your withdrawal is approved and you’re deemed eligible for a refund:
- Complete the appropriate Refund Request Form
- Submit the form to finance@mitt.ca
Processing refunds may take 6-10 weeks after the form is received by the Finance department.
