Entrance Awards
Start your education at MITT with financial support through entrance awards. These scholarships recognize academic achievement and are automatically assessed based on your high school grades—no extra application required!

Bursaries
MITT provides bursaries to support students facing financial challenges. These bursaries are funded by MITT, The Winnipeg Foundation, and private donors.
MITT General Bursary
- Amount: $500
- Eligibility: Current MITT students with financial need
- Deadline: October

Eligible students may also qualify for:
- Imperial MITT Scholarship: For Electrical or Millwright programs
- Winnipeg Construction Association Bursary: For construction-related programs
- Vickar Automotive Group Southern Chiefs’ Organization Bursary: For members of SCO First Nations communities
Sophos Women in Tech Bursary
- Amount: $1,500
- Eligibility: Women in tech programs with financial need
- Deadline: October (eligible students are contacted directly)
Joe Sawtus Ukrainian Student Bursary
- Amount: $1,500
- Details: Automatically provided to recipients of the MITT Ukrainian Tuition Waiver to help with school supplies
Indigenous Education Awards
- Indspire Indigenous Education Awards: Four $2,500 awards for Indigenous students

Advancing Futures Bursaries
- Amount: Up to $10,000
- Eligibility: Former youth-in-care. Learn more about additional support through the Futures Forward Tuition Waiver Program
Storwell’s Foster Children Bursary Program
- Amount: $2,000 bursary to alleviate tuition fees
- Eligibility: Individuals from the foster care system pursuing college education
- Deadline: December 3
Building Foundations Bursary
- Amount: $1,000
- Eligibility: Students in subsidized housing
- Deadline: September 30
Colleges and Institutes Canada Bursaries
- Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary: Up to $5,000 for students with financial need facing barriers to education

Imperial Award for Electrical or Millwright
- Amount: $2,000
- Eligibility: Students identifying as female or Indigenous in the Electrical Applications or Millwright programs
- Application Process: Apply through the MITT General Bursary application
MITT International Scholarship
Funded by the MITT Student Awards Fee, this scholarship supports international students enrolled in MITT post-secondary programs.
- Amount: $500 each
- Eligibility: High academic achievement and a personal statement
- Deadline: November 15, 2025, at 4 pm

Note: Scholarships are awarded at the mid-point of the academic year. The number of awards varies annually based on enrollment. Award recipients will be notified by December 3.
MITT Graduate Awards
MITT Graduate Awards celebrates the achievements of domestic and international students at convocation each year.
Selection Process
- Award recipients are nominated by program instructors.
- A selection committee reviews nominations for awards with multiple nominees.
Award Categories
- MITT Program Excellence Awards: Awarded to one student in each program for the highest overall academic achievement.
- MITT Award for Excellence – Top Post-Secondary: Presented to the college student with the highest combined theory and practical grade averages across all programs.
- MITT Award for Excellence in Work Practicum: Recognizes a college student for outstanding attendance, grades, employability skills, and practicum performance.
- MITT Citizenship Award: Honours a college student for academic success, employability skills, and on- and off-campus volunteerism and community contributions.
- MITT Teacher’s Association Award: Awarded to a high school student from a sponsoring school division. Based on attendance, grades, employability skills, and practicum performance.
- MITT President’s Award for Indigenous Leadership: Celebrates a graduating Indigenous student who demonstrates strong leadership skills and serves as a positive role model.
- MITT President’s Award for Women in Trades: Recognizes a female-identifying student graduating from a program in a field where women are underrepresented. Criteria include grades, technical skills, contributions to the MITT community, and role model qualities.
- Governor General’s Academic Medal: Awarded to the MITT High School graduate with the highest GPA in technical and academic subjects. View past recipients
- Dr. Jack Hunt Citizenship Award (Pembina Trails School Division): Recognizes a high school student from Oak Park or Shaftesbury High School for attendance, participation, and employability skills.
- Neil Thiessen Award for Program Excellence (Pembina Trails School Division): Presented to a high school student from Vincent Massey or Fort Richmond Collegiate for exceptional performance in theory, practice, and industry participation.
