Transcripts and Official Documents
To complete your application to MITT, you’ll need to submit official academic documents and other required materials. This page outlines exactly what to provide and how to submit them properly to keep your application moving forward.

Documents Required for Application to an MITT Program
In preparation for your MITT application, please take a moment to review the guidelines in Submitting Documents below.
For your initial application and admission assessment, MITT accepts scanned copies of your official transcripts and documents. You can easily upload these scans directly to your online application to help speed up processing. Remember, the scans must be of the original documents—not photocopies or notarized versions.
Once admitted, all students must submit final official transcripts from the issuing authority at least 30 calendar days before classes begin.
High School/Secondary Academic Documents
Upload your official high school transcript/mark sheet and graduation certificates (if applicable).
If you’re still studying in high school, upload your most recent transcript/mark sheet.
- Early, conditional admission may be available for students in their final year of high school using:
- Grade 11 final transcript or Grade 12 interim transcript showing required senior-level academic courses with current/predicted grades.
- Submit final official documents at least 30 days before the program starts. Final admission depends on completing all Grade 12 requirements.
- If you were homeschooled in Canada: Upload a transcript and assessment results confirming completion of your secondary education.
- If you were homeschooled in Manitoba: Also upload your Confirmation of Notification and Student Notification Form.
Upload an official transcript issued by your ALC.
If your Adult Learning Centre official transcript doesn’t contain current and/or future courses, please request a letter from your Adult Learning Centre that outlines your current and/or future courses.
Note: If you have attended more than one institution, including a combination of high school, home schooling programs and adult learning centres, please upload transcripts from all the institutions you attended.
Post-Secondary Academic Documents
If you have attended any post-secondary institution such as a college, university, or technical institute, upload the following:
- Official transcripts/mark sheets and graduation certificates (even if your program does not require post-secondary courses for admission)
If your transcript does not specify that a degree was conferred, you must also provide:
- An official degree certificate (diploma)
If you’ve attended multiple institutions, upload transcripts from all the institutions you attended.
- Upload an up-to-date transcript
- Submit your final official transcript (and proof of graduation, if required) at least 30 days before your program starts. If this is not possible, consider applying to a future intake.
Upload an acceptance letter or an up-to-date confirmation of enrollment letter from your institution.
Note: If you’ve attended more than one post-secondary institution, include transcripts from all the schools you’ve attended.
Proof of English Language Proficiency
If your primary language is not English or you were not educated in an English-exempt country listed on our English Language Proficiency page, you must provide proof of proficiency.
Upload one of the following when you apply:
- English proficiency test results (e.g., CAEL, IELTS, PTE, TOEFL)
- Proof of completing an approved English program
- Proof of completing or enrolling in an approved English pathway partner program
- Proof of meeting an English proficiency waiver (or proof that you will meet the waiver requirements at least 45 days before the program starts)
Scores from CAEL, IELTS, PTE, and TOEFL can also be verified online.
Refer to English Language Proficiency for instructions on submitting the required information for score verification.
Other Required Documents
In addition to your transcripts, you might need to submit a few extra documents to support your application. Some of the most common ones include:
Proof of Name Change
If the name on your official transcripts does not match your current name, you must upload proof of name change. Accepted documents include:
- Government-issued Certificate of Birth.
- Certificate of Marriage (if applicable).
- Certificate or Affidavit of Name Change (must include both previous and current names).
Proof of Completion of Other Program Admission Requirements
Some programs require additional documents, such as:

If you are a permanent resident of Canada, upload one of the following documents:
- Permanent Resident Card (front and back)

Submitting Documents
Before you submit your transcripts and documents to MITT, it’s important to understand the difference between unofficial and official transcripts and documents.
Unofficial Transcripts/Documents
Transcripts are considered unofficial if they’re not sent to MITT directly from your school or issuing authority. This includes any documents uploaded by you, the applicant.
For your initial application assessment, you can upload transcripts that your school sent to you. While these help us start your admission review, please note they’re still considered unofficial.
Official Transcripts/Documents
An official transcript is one that comes directly from your school or issuing authority—either by mail or through an official digital verification service—and is sent straight to MITT. Once received, it becomes part of your student file and won’t be returned.
You’ll only need to submit official academic transcripts and documents if you’re offered admission. We’ll let you know when and how to send them.
If you’re accepted to MITT, your official documents must be received at least 30 days before your program starts.
To be accepted by MITT, official transcripts must:
- Show all courses completed, final grades, and any credentials earned.
- Be in the original language with a certified English translation if not issued in English.
- Include an official degree certificate (diploma) if the transcript doesn’t clearly confirm that a degree was awarded.
- Clearly display your full name, program name, institution name, and include any grading scale or transcript legend.
- Be current and complete, listing all studies finished to date.
For passports, study permits, and proof of permanent residency, a scan of the original document is sufficient.
Paper transcripts and documents are considered official if they meet all these conditions:
- Sent in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution or authority, with:
- School name and address
- A signature, stamp, or label across the seal
- Original transcript signature, seal, or issued on security paper
- Photocopies are only official if certified by a school official and sent to MITT in a sealed envelope directly by the sending institution.
Not Accepted as official:
- Transcripts or documents provided directly by the applicant
- Opened or re-sealed documents
- Scanned, faxed, or photocopied documents (unless notarized for specific cases)
- [Notarized transcripts or documents], unless pre-approved by MITT Admissions
Mail paper transcripts or documents to:
Admissions Office
Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology
130 Henlow Bay, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3Y 1G4
Electronic transcripts and documents are considered official if they are sent directly to MITT via:
- A secure third-party platform (e.g., MyCreds, Parchment), or;
- A secure institution/division email domain from the Registrar or authorized representative of the sending institution to admissions@mitt.ca (for studies completed in Canada only).
Documents sent or forwarded to MITT from a personal email address are not accepted.
MITT accepts alternative credential evaluations from:
- IQAS
- WES Canada
- ICES
- CES
- ICAS
- ECE
Evaluations must be sent to MITT directly by the credential evaluator to be considered official.
If your transcripts or other supporting documents are not in English:
- Submit the official transcript(s) or document(s) in the original language.
- Provide a certified English translation, which must include:
- Translator’s membership number/seal or proof of certification.
- Statement affirming the translation’s accuracy and authenticity.
- Translator’s contact information and signature.
Acceptable translators:
- Certified professionals or official translators from issuing institutions or Canadian embassies.
In some cases, MITT may accept notarized copies of transcripts instead of, or in addition to, official documents—especially when translation is needed.
We recognize notarized copies as official documents in the following cases when online verification is not available:
- Higher secondary or senior secondary school certificates
- British-patterned GCE certificates (e.g., Cambridge, Excel, Pearson)
Other exceptions may apply. If you believe your original document is irreplaceable, please email admissions@mitt.ca with details about the document and why a new copy can’t be issued.
Important Requirements
- Notarized copies must be mailed directly from a notary public in a sealed and signed envelope.
- MITT’s Registrar may still request original documents for verification when you arrive on campus.
Online Verification of High School Results/English Language Proficiency
MITT can verify certain academic and English language proficiency results (ELP) online if you provide us with the correct details. Refer to English Language Proficiency for a list of ELP tests verifiable online.
Please provide the required information based on your credential:
- Exams from June 2014 onward: Upload a scanned copy of your GCE certificates.
