MITT hosting second annual Pow Wow on Friday, April 12
Originally posted: March 15, 2024
MITT is excited to host its second annual Pow Wow, a special event honouring the achievements of Indigenous graduates in a traditional way. It is an opportunity to learn about Indigenous culture, connect with the community, and have fun.
The event will celebrate Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) students who have completed or will be completing an MITT program in 2024.
Pow Wow will begin with a pipe ceremony led by Knowledge Keeper Lori Hart, followed by the Grand Entry led by MC Ray (Coco) Stevenson and Arena Director Marcel French.
There will be drumming and dancing throughout the day, and Indigenous vendors and crafters will be onsite selling a variety of items, from jewelry to artwork. Vendor space is available and dancers will receive an honorarium. Drum group participation by invitation only.
Graduating students will be honoured at 2 p.m. and the program will conclude with a feast at 5 p.m.
