MITT partners with ICT Boost to help Manitobans access training to enter the tech workforce

Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) is joining forces with Lighthouse Labs to make tech-enabled change a source of opportunity for all.

Canada’s ICT sector is seeing unparalleled growth, but full and equal access to this industry has not always been available. ICT Boost is a free program that empowers individuals from equity-deserving backgrounds and multi-barrier individuals with attainable and transferable skills to access work opportunities in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Facilitated by tech education leader Lighthouse Labs and funded by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP), ICT Boost will provide technical skills training in Web Development (Flex Bootcamp), Data Science, and Data Analytics.

MITT is part of a consortium of partner post-secondary institutions and industry and community organizations bringing the program to life across Canada.

“MITT is proud to reduce barriers to education and connect Manitobans with opportunities in this thriving sector,” said Kathy Knight, Executive Director of CyberWave at MITT. “In the final stage of the programs, we’ll be able to use our strong relationships with industry to help students find work practicums and ultimately connect employers to a career-ready workforce.”

In addition to technical and soft-skills training, ICT Boost will provide adapted wraparound supports to support students training and facilitate workforce entry and/or job retention in the ICT sector and sub-sectors, including mental health services, mentorship, employer programs, career services, and post-program support through the Lighthouse Labs Rudder program.
