Payam was a member of the first graduating class of MITT in 1985, known then as South Winnipeg Technical Centre (SWTC). He completed the Industrial Electronics program.

18 students from MITT's Business Administrative Assistant program took part in mock interviews with members of Youth Employment Services. Interviews were held in the Student Success Centre over an afternoon, with students practicing their one-on-one job interview skills with three members of Y.E.S. Manitoba.

The Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. This year's event will be held in Moncton, NB from June 5 - 8. Students from MITT will join over 550 secondary and post-secondary competitors from across Canada.

This realizes a dream of his which started in 2003, to see millwrighting become recognized at the international level. This culminates years of discussion, lobbying and education by Dan at various competitions and organizing sessions across Canada and overseas.

The MITT Culture Club’s signature event each year is Folk and Tell: Cultural Showcase. Staff and students came out in record numbers to enjoy five pavilions: Aboriginal, China, India, Philippines and Canada.

We’re now in the lunar Year of the Monkey (“Fire Monkey”) and to celebrate, Downtown Winnipeg Biz put out a wide call for entries for street banners. Jan Hamilton’s Graphic and Print Technician program answered, submitting over a dozen amazing designs.

MITT’s Auto Mechanics training program has been approved by the Manitoba Dept. of Education and Advanced Learning for their Co-operative Graduate Hiring Incentive (COGHI).

MITT has joined all Manitoba universities, colleges and The School Board Association in signing the Indigenous Education Blueprint, at a ceremony held at Migizii Agamik (Bald Eagle Lodge) at the University of Manitoba. This is the second key commitment to Indigenous education that MITT has signed in the last year. On the national level, we also recently signed the Indigenous Education Protocol, put forward by Colleges and Institutes Canada.

Today MITT announced the launch of a new online resource for students and instructors. The Student Portal allows for increased communication and allows students to track their progress as they work towards graduation.
